The Alabama Water Institute recently welcomed student intern Amani Roberson as a video production intern.

Roberson, a sophomore at The University of Alabama, joined AWI at the start of 2024. She is majoring in biology with a minor in African American studies. Roberson works under Zach Krauss, director of research institute communications, and Brock Parker, multimedia specialist and writer.

Roberson works primarily to film and edit interviews with AWI staff and affiliates to create social media content for AWI’s various platforms.

Roberson became involved in AWI after attending a research fair and talking with others about the importance of water.

“It was really interesting to me as a STEM major, and it kind of catapulted to into applying and eventually becoming a part of AWI,” Roberson said.

Roberson looks forward to the intersection of two fields she is enthusiastic about, STEM and film.

“My hope is to help enlighten others about what AWI is and what’s done here,” said Roberson. “There are so many moving parts and so many people who do incredibly important work and I think that by me interviewing them, others outside of AWI can get a better understanding of just how necessary and diverse the work is.”
